Now that Iowa has one of the most restrictive bans in the country, Dr. Emily Boevers, an Iowa OB-GYN, said she hopes Gov. Kim Reynolds, who signed the bill into law, is ready for phone calls from physicians who want to know if a patient is sick enough to qualify for life-saving treatment.

Dr. Boevers also said Iowa’s near-total abortion ban is a cruel intrusion on Iowan’s rights and her ability to act as their doctor.
